Why Vegetable-Tanned Leather
I work in vegetable-tanned leather because it carries the warmth of the plants it came from. The tannins seep slowly into the collagen fibres during tanning, lending the leather a soft resilience, as if it had absorbed something of the plant’s own life. When I shape this leather back into plant forms, the two lives echo each other, extending into something quietly alive.
